The Bible Commands Followers Treat Immigrants with Compassion
Claim
Fact
There is widespread consensus among Christian scholars and theologians that the Bible calls for compassion and hospitality towards immigrants.
Leviticus 19:33–34 states: “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born.”
Deuteronomy 10:19 states: “You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.”
The quote from Deuteronomy referenced in this post actually comes from a section where Moses warns about the consequences of not adhering to the commands of God; it is not a warning against immigration.
Deuteronomy and other parts of the Bible explicitly command followers to protect and love immigrants.
