Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer never stated that voter rolls are filled with undocumented individuals. Voting data has consistently shown that voting by noncitizens is extremely rare.

In a press conference on March 10, 2026, Schumer criticized the SAVE America Act because of its potential to remove citizens from voter rolls.

The American Immigration Council found that cases of proven noncitizen voting accounted for less than 0.0001% of total votes in presidential elections dating back to 2000, and most were cast by permanent residents who mistakenly believed they could vote.
