Tillamook Did Not Change Its Cheese For Muslims
Claim
Fact
Americans are not being forced to eat food made to Muslim standards. The cheese products labeled “CERTIFIED HALAL” from Tillamook are no different now that they have the label.
Tillamook began offering cheese products made with a fermentation-produced rennet instead of rennet derived from cows in 2016, and the change not only made some products halal but also kosher and vegetarian.
Halal means “permissible” in Arabic, and food being labeled halal does not mean an animal was “sacrificed to Allah” when it was prepared.
