Writer Wajahat Ali never threatened jihad or a civil war if Abdul El-Sayed loses his election. 

There is no evidence to back sweeping claims of the Muslim community threatening civil war in the United States or any evidence that mosques pose a threat, despite decades of surveillance that many legal experts have argued was unconstitutional.  

In his Nov. 1, 2026 post on X, Ali wrote that there will be a reckoning within the Democratic Party, where people will turn against pro-Israel and corporate democrats, but at no point does Ali call for violence or mention Islam. In a post responding to Laura Loomer, Ali reiterates that he was writing about a political reckoning within the party.
